AI Policy

Last updated October 2025.

As AI becomes more prevalent in the world and creative spaces, we at Journeys & Tales wanted to outline how we may use it in the creative process of making larps, and in which areas we definitely will not use it.

As a principle, we believe that larp design and writing can be considered an art form, and that the best way to interact with this is by using material created by human beings. Being an artist is tough enough as it is, and we therefore wish to support existing artists through our projects, rather than using AI as a cheaper alternative. At the same time, we also recognize that AI has value for creators in terms of making things easier, transcribing text to audio, grammar editing, creating timetables/schedules, charts, and generating lists, and it can be used as another tool in the creative process.

Journeys & Tales and any of our collaborators and creators will not knowingly utilize AI for:

  • Creating any core documents and materials that are written for players as part of a larp, such as:
    • Setting / World Building Documents.
    • Group Documents.
    • Practical Documents.
    • Character writing in any form, including relationships and connections.
  • Creation of art for characters or other core material, major logos for events, and website art.

Journeys & Tales may use AI in our projects and daily work for the following:

  • As a tool in knowledge building and brainstorming in the creative process, organizing workshop schedules, creating random lists/groupings, and similar practical materials.
  • Creating minor props for larps.
  • Correcting grammar, copy editing, consistency editing, final touches, and consistency checks.
  • As part of general administration, company, and event management.
  • Transcribing texts to audio, building podcasts, and other audio versions of material to accommodate wider player needs.

Should you have any input or questions on the above, or comments on areas we may have forgotten, please contact us via the usual channels.
